Michaela and Chiara met me a few weeks back at the Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field to model some Pura Vida Bracelets for me. If you don’t have your own set of these bracelets yet, do yourself a favor and jump on the bandwagon. I am currently obsessed; They are fun to mix and match with different outfits and aside from being absolutely adorable, they support a ton of causes… Just last year they donated $140,000 to over 190+ charity organizations. Awesome! (They are also based in La Jolla/San Diego and support artisans in Costa Rica, two places very dear to my heart!) If you a headed to college next year, or if you are currently in high school, you can sign up to be a campus rep with them and receive tons of discounts here! Now… the photos!
Have. Your. Proposal. Photographed. No, really… Do it. Silas had our proposal photographed by our good friend Brian, and I am so, so glad he did! The proposal goes by so fast, and having photos of such an incredible moment is something I will always cherish. If you are interested in having your proposal photographed, we will want to scout the location together beforehand so we can figure out exactly where I will be hiding, where the two of you should stand to make sure that you are facing the right direction, and see if there aren’t any other major distractions. I want you to choose a location that is special to the two of you, and we can make anything work! Most people come to me with a vision already in mind, but I am happy to help and offer suggestions if needed!
Here are a few of the proposals I’ve photographed recently, as well as our own proposal! I especially love the “we pulled it off!” eye contact shots in these sets!
RJ proposed to Jen on their ranch in Moorpark, CA in the early morning hours while taking one of their horses for a walk before heading out to a family brunch. Although Jen didn’t see me, the horse was WELL aware of me hiding in the bushes, and wasn’t a fan! haha
Ogi proposed to Anne in the late evening after dinner at the top of Vallejo Street in San Francisco near an awesome view of the bay bridge. I was hiding in the bushes in the darkness like a total creeper and had to explain to a few terrified residents what I was doing! hahaha
Pascal proposed to Ashley at the top of Bernal Heights Park overlooking downtown San Francisco while taking their dogs on their morning walk. Pascal and Ashley planned a “housewarming party” for that day, which Ashley didn’t know was actually their engagement party! I was able to get some of these photos to them within the next hour to display on their TV at the party that day, too.
And OUR proposal, planned by my wonderful husband, shot by Brian Kent of ABM Wedding Photography at Kate Sessions Park in San Diego! Silas wrote me the sweetest song, and I totally missed the part in the song when he proposed! hahaha He played it again for me after the “real” proposal.
I love Miki’s ears in this one… she’s so excited, too!
And finally, one of my favorite photos I took of our pup with my engagement ring
I am so excited that I finally get to share this absolutely gorgeous wedding with you all! It was recently featured on Exquisite Magazine’s Blog Here so be sure to check out some of the detail photos featured over there that I didn’t include on this post! The ceremony took place at the Carmel Mission Basilica, and reception was at Holman Ranch in Carmel which is a breathtaking venue!
Vanessa and Jimmy were one of my favorite couples not only of 2013, but of all time. They are both incredibly sweet and hilarious, and we spent a few wonderful days with them last year; Thankfully they are up here in the bay area and we will get to see them, specifically in just a few weeks for a family session at their family ranch! (SO excited!) We bonded over the planning process (we were planning our weddings at the same time!) and had a ton in common (Silas’ family are Stanford alums and Jimmy’s family are die-hard Stanford… just one example among many other things!). Initially we were introduced to them through my friend, Jamie Rose, from my sorority in college (Jimmy is Jamie’s younger brother) and they have absolutely become clients turned friends. V+J, I am so glad we have stayed connected to you two, and can see your marriage and family grow!
Before the photos, I also have to give a shout-out to the A-MAZING vendors from this wedding, some of the BEST in the industry, and absolutely the best in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Heidi from Coastside Couture was unbelievably wonderful; their florist Christine of Christine Cater and Events did a PHENOMENAL job with the arrangements, bouquets, etc.; and we just loved working with Andy from Blue Moon Productions who made THIS sweet video for their wedding. And, Silas and I want to be friends with Michi from Michi Sushi who did their tuna ceremony; This was a first for us, and we are totally hooked!!!
This Girl. If you aren’t friends with Michaela yet, you should be. She is graduating from Marin Academy High School in San Rafael, CA in less than a month, is an incredibly talented dancer, and is an absolute BLAST! We had so many laughs during her session! She is a sweetheart on top of that, and clearly beautiful as well… The total package. We shot her session on an absolutely freezing day in San Francisco at Baker Beach which normally overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge. Well, the bridge was completely covered in fog, and the wind and water were ice cold. Overcast skies make for stunning beach photos, but you have to brave the chilly temperatures. Michaela could’ve cared less and busted out her adorable little dress and wore it like it was 90 degrees outside, and let her beautiful long blonde hair do its thing in the wind. Stunning. Michaela, you have a heart of gold and I hope I get to see you again soon!! I’m SO proud of you, you’re almost done!
Meet another Senior at Convent of the Sacred Heart High School located in the beautiful neighborhood of Pacific Heights, San Francisco: Lizzie. I have been so blessed to meet so many amazing seniors this year, including Lizzie, who are even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside… which speaks VOLUMES because these girls are GORGEOUS! We chose Golden Gate Park as the location for her shoot; This spot reminds me so much of Balboa Park in San Diego, and I can’t get enough of it! I had the best time getting to know her and her Mom (who was also wonderful!). Lizzie, I wish you the absolute BEST next year! Hopefully I will see you again before you are off to college!
