If I could recommend one thing to a bride and groom for their wedding day as a photographer, it would be to do a “First Look.” It is my absolute favorite moment of the entire day. The “First Look” is when the bride and groom see each other for the first time in an intimate setting BEFORE the ceremony. It can be completely personal (bride, groom, photographer) or it can involve immediate family, bridal party, etc. I recommend a First Look for a few reasons. It gives the bride and groom a moment to completely focus on each other alone (well, almost alone) when they first see each other on their wedding day without any of the distractions while walking down the aisle. It is also a great opportunity for amazing reaction photos that usually don’t happen quite the same during the ceremony. Additionally, it allows for you to not only enjoy more time with your guests, but it provides more time for the most important photos of the day – the pre- and post-ceremony sweetheart pictures of just the bride and groom together – because since you have already seen each other, you can get a lot of the formal pictures (family, bridesmaid / groomsmen together) out of the way pre-ceremony. Megan and Jordan chose to schedule in a First Look at their ceremony site, the Spanish Hills Country Club, and it was absolutely perfect!
