Cara and Daniel Engagement

Why hello blog readers! (Mom and Silas) It has been awhile, but for good reason I promise! Things are super busy in Nicole Angelo Photography land… Unfortunately, when teaching and photography and life get crazy, the blog gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list until I get a few extra moments to get a post together. Good news is that if you want to stay updated on current shoots and weddings, head on over to the Nicole Angelo Photography Facebook Page where I’ve stayed pretty consistent with quickly uploading some current faves. Lots to look forward to in the upcoming wedding season!

Today I bring you Cara and Daniel’s E-session at Balboa Park in San Diego. I will have the honor of photographing this couple’s wedding as one of my 6, yes you read that correctly, SIX, April weddings. Cara and Daniel are two of the most kind and caring couples I’ve ever worked with and GORGEOUS as you will see below! I met with them recently to go over some wedding-day locations and details, and their wedding is sure to be phenomenal!!! I can’t wait! For now, enjoy some of their engagement photos… I’m off to go (finally! hooray!) see the Hunger Games with Silas after his practice and then get ready for his sister Katie’s rehearsal dinner tomorrow! I will be shooting her wedding this Saturday in Sonoma County… I’m sure this will be the most memorable and meaningful wedding I will shoot in my photography career (with the exception possibly being my brother if he decides to get married one day….. ::cough cough::) YAY!!!

Anna and Olivier Wedding

I was introduced to this fabulous couple through my friend Katie… Katie and I played travel softball together (and against each other on rival high school teams!), and I was so excited and thankful to be reconnected with her. A huge perk of being a “young” photographer (I know I’ll get a few laughs after that comment…) is being reconnected with old friends, especially at this age when so many are either getting engaged, married, pregnant, starting families, starting new jobs, etc. and need photos. Since this is my second job and I (thankfully) don’t need to advertise (with the exception of posting on Facebook if you want to call that “advertising”) all of my clients are referral-based and I get to see people I haven’t seen in a really long time… Awesome!

Anna and Olivier. This adorable couple met while working at nearby wineries in Northern California… Olivier is from France, and their ceremony was half in French as a large number of their guests did not speak English, which was a completely amazing and unique experience. These two are different, and yet also very similar, and their similarities and differences simply add to the obvious magnitude of their relationship. Their love is completely real. I absolutely adore you two and am so thankful to have met you and share in your perfect day!

Side note, one of my second shooters (not for this wedding) Leslie is getting married this year at Maravilla Gardens… When a wedding vendor chooses a site as their own venue, you know it’s a good one! If you are looking for a place for your ceremony and reception in Ventura County, add this one to your list of must-see locations!

Welcome 2012

I had originally planned to do a recap of 2011 blog post including all of the weddings and engagements that I haven’t had a chance to get up on the blog over the past year until I read this quote earlier today and decided to keep it simple. Instead of a resolution this year, I am just going to be thankful everyday. This quote is great advice for the new year for everyone; This thinking is what led me years ago to pursue teaching and photography instead of choosing another career path, and this is what I wish for everyone this year. I am extremely lucky to have 2 careers that make me happy and although I am always busy, I never feel burdened by either of them.

“Focus on your strengths and make sure that you are not missing out on your destiny because you are always getting involved in something that doesn’t come naturally. When you are truly in your destiny, it is not a constant struggle. It just feels right.”

Happy 2012! I am looking forward to working with all of my amazing current and future 2012 couples! Hopefully more blog posts coming in the near future, I have over 30+ to share from 2011! Jami and Scott Engagement

I have known Jami for a long time and when she asked me about shooting her wedding, we decided it would be better if I could just be a guest instead! SO EXCITED!!! We also decided that I would still shoot her engagement session so I could be involved in the process in some way, and then I referred her to Brian at ABM Wedding Photography for her photographer and to Maryann and Aubyn of Taylored Occasions for her coordinators. What a group of professionals!!! Jami, you are one lucky girl! I can’t wait to see you and Scott soon, and I REALLY can’t wait to hit the dance floor with you two at your wedding!!!

Nicole and Myk Wedding

Nicole and Myk were married back on April 1st at Walnut Grove, Tierra Rejada Ranch in Moorpark, CA. It was a simply gorgeous day with a couple very much in love, and I felt so privileged to be a part of their special day! I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

I adore these two, plain and simple. I have known Matty for about 8 years now, and I remember when he and Amanda met and first started dating. When you know two people are meant for each other, it is very clear. I was so honored and happy to be there for you two on your wedding day; it was perfect. Grant Senior Portrait Session

I really love, love, love shooting high school seniors; They are definitely some of my favorite clients. They are absolutely loving life, they are adventurous and willing to try anything, they love having their picture taken, and they have an infectious energy about them that makes the shoot so much fun!

Meet Grant – A high school senior from Lafayette, Indiana. He was out here with his family on vacation visiting his sister and wanted his senior portraits taken in San Diego. We certainly gave him something to bring home and make his friends jealous!

Life of the Photographer

In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t write much on my blog posts, I like to keep my words to a minimum and let my photos speak for themselves. And if you’re anything like me, unless you’re my parents (hi mom and dad), you only have a few seconds of time so you like to skip right to the photos anyway… So, if you’ve made it this far, I appreciate it! I came across an article that made me laugh and I thought it was worth sharing since I recently had a similar experience. I have been totally slacking on blogging lately despite my new year’s resolution to try to blog once per week, mainly because life has been crazy-busy balancing teaching, shooting, and editing and hasn’t left much time for anything else. I was fortunate enough to get a 2-week break from the craziness and travel abroad to a few cities in Italy with a good friend of mine. When I got back, I was completely bombarded with emails and spent the better part of a day responding and returning phone calls after being gone all weekend shooting the wedding of Carolyn and Sean (pics to come, she looked ADORABLE!!!) on Catalina Island. During one of my phone conversations, my client asked about Italy and said “Wow, the life of a photographer sounds great! Hanging out at weddings and traveling around the world!” To this, I almost fell out of my chair laughing. I mean, yes, I get to celebrate (and dance!) and be surrounded by lots of love on weekends, and I have an absolute blast doing it, and yes I get to travel and experience things that most people do not, but I tried to explain that the fact that I had 10 days off was pretty much the world’s greatest miracle, and since being home for 2 days I have edited 2 weddings and returned hundred of emails and have barely crossed off 3 lines on my multiple page to-do list. And, photography is job #2 (thank goodness for summer vacation!). Anyways, back to the article. It shared these two pie charts which really spelled out the “life of a photographer” as seen by others, and then showed our reality. (I’m a teacher, please bear with my dorkiness and love of graphs)

Sure some of those things aren’t quite so high… Blogging is definitely lower (ha), Advertising and Marketing are pretty much non-existent, and Networking takes a hit, but other than that this graph is pretty accurate. And, again, this is my side job! I have to balance that 100% (or, really 85ish%) with the 110% I put into my Kindergarteners, and 5ish% of the “party like rockstars” because I have been known to tear up a dance floor or two……… On that note, I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I wouldn’t change a thing. While that first graph does look pretty appealing…… ::sigh, back to reality:: As much as the carpal tunnel building up in my wrists from answering emails is telling me to take it easy, I love love love my clients and I am so blessed to have them (you!) in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!! You are why I have taken on this challenge to balance all of the loves in my life To end for now, here are a few pictures from my trip to Italia… I’ll put up more in another longer blog post soon. No, really, I will.

Nicholle and Terrance Engagement

My first triple-header… 2 down, 1 to go!!!

On Friday I photographed the wedding of Nicholle and Terrance at a gorgeous winery in Temecula Valley. It was a picture-perfect day and I can’t WAIT to post up some sneak peaks! But first, their engagement!

Nicholle and I met for our initial consultation and I immediately fell in love with this girl. She is so sweet and genuine. I couldn’t WAIT to meet Terrance, and he was everything I thought he would be. Charming, funny, thoughtful, and completely in love with Nicholle. And of course it helps that these two are absolutely beautiful on the outside, too! Wedding pictures to come soon… You won’t want to miss them!!!
